Comcast gets new TV deals, streaming video provider gets new cable deals

Comcast’s new TV streaming deal with RCN is worth $8.9 billion in cash, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts announced on Wednesday.RCN has a new $30 monthly plan that offers $12 per month for high-speed Internet, high-definition video streaming, and an additional $20 per month with RCNs premium service.
Comcast said it plans to offer RCN’s services for $10 per month to subscribers.RCNs premium video service is available to consumers in the U.S. and Canada.
Comcast has been looking for ways to make its TV service more affordable, Roberts said, and the RCN deal adds to the company’s commitment to its customers.
Roberts also said Comcast will begin offering streaming video in the first quarter of 2018.
RCN also has a streaming video service called RCN Go.
RCNs Go service lets customers watch videos from other RCN customers and stream the videos from the other RCNs app to their Roku box or Apple TV.
RCNS Go offers a $20 fee per month that can be added to a Comcast TV subscription.
Roberts said Comcast was pleased with the RCNs new deal.RCNS Go has over 1 million subscribers, Roberts added.
The company is currently working with RCNA to bring the service to the U, but RCNA has a long way to go to reach the 1 million subscriber goal.RCNA has had to rely on third-party providers to bring RCN content to subscribers, he said.
